These are great! I remember playing Hang man on the blackboard at school and remembering being confused when they started using dry eraser whiteboards!

I imagine these similar to when the TV used to get rolled into the classroom. We’d all get excited but we were actually being tricked into learning!

I have just downloaded it for my little girl, she’s having a blast playing with it. I think its really educational for her.

Foopets is a very enjoyable online game. It might cost money, but it used to be free. I have a valid ClubFoo account and play everyday. No, there is no cheat to get a free account. There are thousands of other players, including me. You adopt many pets and breed them (No, it doesn’t show anything, just two pets sitting by a pet bed), and it takes real days for the Foobabies to arrive. You decorate your pets’ backgrounds and earn money. This money can be used to buy litter licenses that you will need to breed, decorations for your pets’ rooms, and other Foopets!
The reason you have to pay is because the creators spend countless hours working on Foopets. They have made it fun.
FooPets is worth the price.

foopets used to be the best virtual pet website on the internet. i would play it every day, and i had a dog that i loved sooooo much back before i was allowed to get a real dog. then fooets became pay to play and i started getting emails saying my pet was dying, and i couldn’t do anything about it. if foopets doesn’t become free again, they’re going to lose a lot of members, and actually lose more money than if it was free. -_-

Looks like a pretty neat game. Sure beats flash cards and times tables. I always wonder about the effectiveness of games like these though. It may be easier to get kids to play a game like this than to memorize a times table, but are the kids really learning as much?

I think there are many educational games available online now. THis one is particularly interesting as it teaches kids about US states and geography in general. I like these educational games as they tend to be very useful. There are also many retro games, which are great , such as Bomb It 2, which is a clone of Atomic Bomberman. These games can also be educational as they teach us about strategy.

Yup, I totally agree with Susan on that one. Childhood education has changed drastically since I was a kid too… and that was only 15 years ago years ago. Who knows what the changes will be like ten years from now.

I’m thinking that this Tower Climber might be an awesome game for my nephew. He enjoys building huge skyscrapers with his lego, so this game would be both fun and educational for him.

There are some newer browsers for kids. One is called Kidoz and you can also get a free one called KidRocket(freeware). I like Kidrocket personally because u can also limit their time online with it

Most Anti-virus programs have parental controls in them so you can stop your child accessing the bad sites. It’s similar to the parental controls on your TV.

What a great way to expand your vocabulary while helping others. This concept brings about a new field of study in gaming. Gaming for achievements to extend the amount of time that one plays a game. Usually this is done to generate money for a corporation, I’m glad to see that it has now been extended to a charitable oraganization! This is great for classrooms and teaching.

I used to play the lemonade stand game when I was a kid in school. It was on an old DOS green screen and didn’t have the fancy graphics that the games have today. It did teach us math though!

I wish these kids drawing softwares came out when I was a little girl. Back then I had to limit myself to microsoft paint, which was an awful program!

What a great idea of educating kids about the importance of nutrition. There needs to more websites dedicated to educating kids about nutrition, but making it fun like this site. I’m concerned with how so many parents raise their kids on McDonald’s because it’s convenient. It’s lazy parenting. Anyway, thank you for a site dedicated to improving the quality of life for children.

Very cool game! I happen to live very close to a Lego manufacturing plant. I also happen to sell training to their employees on how to run the injection molding machines that mold the pieces. Two things, 1) they have THE most incredible model of the US capital building in their lobby, and 2) you have to just about give away your first born to get past the lobby. They have been very nice though, in giving me kits for my little ones. A truly amazing operation.

Another example of why the internet makes me wish I was a kid again. Aside from the huge business opportunities sitting there for college (or even high school) graduates with no start-up money, there is just a lot of really cool and fun stuff.
